This Saturday, July 27, the Allen Event Center will be presenting the 2nd Annual Allen City Blues Festival. More than one dozen acts will be performing live on two (2) stages at North Texas’ premier blues festival. The Main Stage will headline Eric Johnson who is considered one of the premier guitar players in contemporary music. Mr. Johnson is a Grammy Award winner and has been nominated five (5) times as well as he has a platinum album to his name. The praise of both music critics and his peers have marked his career and musical legacy. His other achievements include being enshrined in Guitar Player’s Gallery of Greats and being named one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of the 20th Century by Musician magazine. The Main Stage will also offer the Billy Cox Band of Gypsys Experience. Mr. Cox is the only surviving member of The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys. He is best known for his bass work with Hendrix in the Band of Gypsys and was part of the legendary performance at Woodstock. Mr. Cox is also a member of the Musicians Hall Of Fame.
Besides the Main Stage, the Guitar Sanctuary Stage will provide a lineup with considerable talent. This stage will be located within a refreshing and shaded beer garden adjacent to the arena. The Guitar Sanctuary Performance Academy in McKinney has programmed these sets and the music will begin shortly after the doors open at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The doors open at 2:00 p.m. for Main Stage entertainment inside the arena.
